The End of a Season Brings the Start of A New One
I have been thinking a lot lately of how happy I will be when this winter is over.
In Manitoba, as in other places, it has been long and hard.
One of the toughest we have had in a very long time.
It has been another season of firsts for me.
Learning. . .
What it takes to care for my herd in the winter.
The extent of my fortitude and determination to keep pursuing my vision amidst challenges.
How the horses know what they need to be safe and healthy.
Seeing . . .
The beauty amidst the hard stuff.
The purity of the country snow.
How people can pull together around a common purpose.
Feeling stretched . . .
Not another extremely cold morning to walk out and feed breakfast.
Yet one more time to clean pens so the snow doesn’t get too high.
Splitting my focus between the visceral ‘feeling’ work and the cerebral ‘thinking’ work.
Observing beauty . . .
The horses frosted lashes.
The snow gently falling.
The big, beautiful moon that lights up the space around it.
We are all coming through a long, hard season.
Each of us have been impacted differently.
As spring dawns, it is a reminder of new beginnings.
Time to recharge.
To pause and truly see what we have done, survived, learned, accomplished.
To embrace the beauty amidst the challenges.
